First Principles
More and more companies seek senior-level skills in entry-level roles.
Headstarter created a score 0-100 called Career Capital. A score of a 100 is similar to someone who has a masters from the best engineering university and 2 years of professional experience. People who are at this level in skills, brand and signal have very high bids in the job market and optionality.
Learning is commoditized. Coveted is community and real-human feedback.
CS Content or learning can be done on Udemy, Youtube, School etc. Where Headstarter provides value like none other is community and feedback. Community can be defined as 1) IRL i.e. face-to-face meetups 2) teams i.e. 3-4 people in a structured setting and 3) network i.e. software engineers at every level: intern, senior, manager, exec, and founders from seed-IPO companies. Feedback can be defined as 1) giving deadlines, helping you prioritize and follow up when you forget, 2) demonstrating your real-time coding abilities and team collaboration skills back to you and hiring managers and 3) giving opportunities to have candid conversations with real software engineers 1:1.
Many people pursue CS to build something with their own hands one day.
Headstarter’s philosophy is to start with a problem or a vision. Then learn what tech stacks needed to make that vision a reality with a group of friends in time-bound environment. Iterate vigorously. Learning will happen as a byproduct.
